Plotting

Guidelines

Plotting Guidelines Module ensure consistent black-and-white and color plotting in AutoCAD platform. Modern guidelines support independent specification of color and line width, ensuring flexibility and compatibility with current CAD technologies.

GENERAL GUIDELINE

Documents shall be printed from paper space layout. The sheet layout is already made using the right title block, scales, arrangement of notes and drawings as stated above. Each paper space layout page shall have settings saved in the Page Setup Manager. Printer/Plotter device, paper size, paper area, plot scale, drawing orientation, layout viewports and a completed title block are the parameters that shall be set within the page setup manager.

LINEWEIGH PLOTTING

Most CAD software offers many line width options, but standard widths are typically enough for most drawings. If a drawing is reduced to half size, the line widths should scale proportionally. Avoid using extra fine lines if the drawing will be printed at a smaller size to maintain clarity.

BLACK/WHITE PLOTTING

This section covers prints or plots made with a black-and-white plotter. Since various screen colors colors in CAD can be linked to specific color numbers, only the color numbers are discussed. The table assumes the CAD software supports 255 color options for user selection.

COLOR PLOTTING

The plot style to be used is a color-dependent (CTB) file that sets the style based on the color of the objects. Lineweight, transparency, color of objects are based on the object lineweight used in the drawing. These parameters are controlled by layer.
